Daniel J. Coughlin, III, Mr. Coughlin has over three decades of television sports technology and production experience. This includes work on over 1,400 broadcasts of NFL, Olympic Sports, NASCAR, Indy Car Racing, NHRA, plus a variety of other professional sports productions. Dan has a record of success in Class 1 game development, (casino games), simulation, military projects and analogue animation. Dan is a proven leader in the exploitation of emerging technology.

As an entrepreneur Dan founded two (2) successful Television Technology production Companies, BIOCAM and All Sports Telemetry. In 2000 his All Sports Team received 6 National Sports EMMY’s for Engineering Excellence as “Outstanding Technical Team, Remote” for its work for ESPN/NASCAR. Dan was honored to receive the EMMY as Outstanding Telemetry Engineer.

Mr. Coughlin has been instrumental in leading development and deployment of highly skilled engineering staff in support of TV technologies such as; analogue computer animation, point-of-view camera systems, remote sensor and telemetry payloads designed for; Airships, NASCAR, Indy Car, NBC coverage of Olympic Sports, ESPN, CBS Sports, NHRA and recently for the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL. Dan is called upon, from time to time, to speak both in the U.S. and internationally to professional audiences on the subjects of “Real-time data acquisition of Sports and Performance Measurements” from Competitors and the Artifacts of Competition.

Dan has served on the teaching faculty of the International Council of Motorsports Sciences and is a former member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Mr. Coughlin attended the University of Pennsylvania, and the Wharton School of Economics in Philadelphia. Dan’s career began in Philadelphia at a major metropolitan newspaper in the National Sports Department. He went on to work in sports radio production at Metro Media Broadcasting producing coverage of NFL and then on to live video production of NASCAR events for; ESPN and NBC Sports.

Since 1990 Dan has been providing complex technology solutions for; Olympic Cycling, Indy Car Racing, NASCAR, Rolex 24, Polar Electro USA, NHL, AFL, Professional Bull Riding, NHRA and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, (DARPA).

Dan served ten (10) years in the United States Navy and Reserves. He served as a member of the Planning and Zoning Board for the City of Lake Mary.

Dan has lived in his home on Big Lake Mary for the past 17 years and is a twenty-three year resident of Central Florida. Dan maintains his Instructor and Dive Rescue Specialist, (Emeritus) status with: The National Association of Underwater Instructors, The International Council of Motor Sports Sciences and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
